The above images show the four litre bags of total parenteral nutrition, TPN, that feeds William intravenously through a tube leading into the top of his heart. He is attached to this feed 20 hours a day. These bags nourish William but also nourish the bugs that leak from his gut into his blood stream. TPN keeps William alive but could also kill him.
